Nestlé Canada rallies youth mental health supporters

Nestlé works with local communities across Canada to help strengthen the mental health landscape from coast to coast to coast. As the world’s largest food and beverage company, Nestlé has been manufacturing its products in Canada since 1918. In 1989, recognizing that young people were facing a growing mental health crisis, Nestlé Canada became a Founding Partner of Kids Help Phone — the country’s first and only 24/7 phone line for youth in crisis.

The company placed Kids Help Phone’s logo and phone number on the packaging of many of its products to raise awareness of the new service — and select products still feature them today! Many young people who have reached out to our counsellors cited Nestlé chocolate as the source of learning about Kids Help Phone.

Since then, Nestlé has steadfastly remained one of Kids Help Phone’s most dedicated supporters. The company has been a National Sponsor of the annual Walk so Kids Can Talk presented by BMO since 2010. And through its sponsorship of the annual Kids Help Phone Golf Classic, Nestlé has helped rally supporters around the mission of Kids Help Phone since 1997. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Nestlé continued to raise funds for Kids Help Phone among supporters of the golf classic (even though the event itself could not take place in person) to help our organization grow in scope and reach.
